Aim

The course will provide the theoretical and methodological framework for the design tasks in the design course Dwelling and Space. Through texts, lectures and studies of described and visited reference projects, the course supports the student's exploratory and reflective work in relation to design assignments.
The course will also provide a prerequisite for subject knowledge development as support for assignments in terms of sustainability aspects, historical development of dwelling and housing types, housing policy, social aspects and theory about housing qualities. As the course is based on future-related issues, it also contains seminars to stimulate a reflective discussion.

Contents

The course contains literature study, lectures, seminars, presentations and a possible non-compulsory study trip. Teaching takes place preferably in groups, but individual exercises may occur.

Examination details

Grading scale: UG - (U, G) - (Fail, Pass)
Assessment: Approved exercises and 80% attendance at study visits and lectures. Mandatory attendance at seminars. If the grade fails, the student is entitled to a re-examination after completion. The examiner informs the student what is required to obtain the grade passed.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.

Admission

Admission requirements:

The number of participants is limited to: 36
Selection: Completed university credits within the program. Within programmes where the course is given as a mandatory or elective mandatory course students are guaranteed admission. There after priority is given to students enrolled in programmes that include the course in the curriculum.
