Aim

The goal of this course is to enable participants to enhance and apply their understanding of the impacts of traffic in different subject areas, such as accessibility, transport equity, level of service, and travel behaviour, among others. By the end of the course, participants will be acquainted with a range of methods for analyzing the transport system, and understanding the critical role of accessibility in shaping these analyses. They will gain insights into the types of data and measurements appropriate for different types of analysis and develop an understanding of the interrelationships between methods, data, and policy considerations.

Contents

The course focuses on concepts and measurements, different types of data, and methods and tools for analysing aspects such as accessibility, transport equity, level of service and travel behaviour. The course format will include lectures, reading assignments, practical exercises, and a home assignment, which involves creating a fictional master thesis proposal to analyze a transport system-related problem. The course ends with a written exam, and the teachers will provide formative and summative feedback throughout.

Grading scale: TH - (U, 3, 4, 5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment:

For a passing grade: approved written exam, approved exercises, approved project work, approved oral presentation and presence at the obligatory parts are needed. The grade is awarded on the basis of the written exam, the project work report and the other assignments.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
