The aim of the course is to provide advanced knowledge in and insight into modern analytical techniques including chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, field-flow fractionation and mass spectrometry.

The course comprises different analytical separation techniques and methods, such as HPLC, UHPLC and LC/MS, GC and GC/MS, CE (capillary electrophoresis), SFC (supercritical fluid chromatography) and FFF (flow field fractionation), for characterisation and quantitation of low and high molecular weight substances normally utilized in pharmaceutical, food, environmental, biotechnical and biochemical analysis.
An important part of the course is spent to strategies for optimization of separation and detection conditions. Also the importance of method validation and quality assessment is highlighted.
Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Written examination, laboratory work and reports. The final grade will be based on the written examination.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
