Aim

This course takes a student-centered pedagogic approach to innovation and product development. It focuses on the student's individual challenges and creates personalised learning goals. An individual project cultivates skill development tailored to each student's needs and intrest. In this course, the student is expected to be highly self-driven with some guidance from a supervisor from a relevant expert area.

This course aims to give students the possibility of studying more specialised topics within an area, in innovation or product development, that are not covered by their traditional courses. More specifically, this course allows students to deepen disciplinary expertise while offering flexibility for those who wish to integrate insights from other fields, enabling the creation of solutions for complex, real-world problems.

Contents

This project course emphasises breadth of knowledge of innovation and product development (including the fuzzy front-end of the product development process). It is carried out in an interdisciplinary environment. The student has access to expertise in various areas, such as methodology for product development, sustainability, additive manufacturing, product experiences, interaction design, innovation policies and strategies, innovation management, business models, design thinking, and entrepreneurship etc.

The project can be practical and/or theoretical in a subject of the student's choice. The project can be used as a pre-study for the student's degree project or part of a development project together with a company or research project.

For exchange students, this course opens up the opportunity to cover parts of courses that otherwise would not be possible for the student to participate in.

Assessment:

The grading of this course is based on project documentation, where the student, in a clear manner, should report on both process and findings/results. Projects which are carried out in cooperation with industry and/or within ongoing research projects might require an oral presentation as well - this in addition to the written report.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
