The overall objectives of the course are to provide students with an increased knowledge of environmental issues and methods in an international perspective, and to help students acquire a critical and scientific work mode.

The course work consists mainly of the students carrying out project work within a general theme that may vary from year to year. The project should be presented as a paper
The course comprises (i) a number of seminars where students are required to evaluate and discuss each other's projects and deliver constructive criticism, and (ii) class lectures. Lectures focus on the process of scientific research and how to communicate research through scientific writing as well as on the theme(s) selected for the course. Each project is tutored individually.
Grading scale: TH - (U, 3, 4, 5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: The students will be required to hand in a number of preliminary versions of their project paper, and these will be discussed during several seminars. For the paper to be graded, the course director should have been able to follow the working process. Active participation in the seminars is required, and students must contribute by delivering comments on other papers. The examination consists of a final project paper, which is to be defended at a final seminar. In addition to defending his/her own paper, each student should also act as opponent for another student’s paper. The project is carried out alone or in groups of two.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
