Aim

The aim of the course is for the students to develop an understanding of how industrial work is organised with respect to the productivity of the production system as well as human needs and conditions. Furthermore, the aim of the course is for the students to develop the capability to motivate and apply methods and tools for planning, analyzing, communicating, manage and develop projects and organizations. The course also aims to contribute to insights into human conditions for management and employees, such as motivation, values and attitudes that supports a sustainable and innovative health-promoting leadership, which is in line with UN:s sustainable development goal 8 to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

Contents

The course starts with an historic review and explanations of fundamental theories and explanation models, followed by a written test. The students are organized in teams and summarize relevant work organisation areas in articles and posters and present these in seminars. Cases will be analyzed in cooperation with industrial representatives. Researchers will interact with students and explain trends in work organisation theory and practice. Key words of the course: work organisation, management, participation, changes and improvements, innovation, organisational psychology, work organisation and productivity, stress and workload in working life, sustainable and innovative health promotion management, examples from industry, latest research.

Grading scale: TH - (U, 3, 4, 5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment:

To pass the course, active participation in the compulsory course items, approved project work and a passed exam are required. The final grade is based on the results of the written exam.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.

Assumed prior knowledge: Studies equivalent to three years at the five-year MSc program.
The number of participants is limited to: 60
Selection: Completed university credits within the programme. Priority is given to students enrolled on programmes that include the course in their curriculum.
