Aim

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the upcoming challenges they will face when working with production in industry and how these challenges affect future product development. Aspects that have become increasingly important for industrial product development include circularity and the use of resources, as well as the need for products to be appealing to use from a cognitive and experience-oriented perspective. AI is a further aspect that has become essential for how product development is carried out in industry. The focus of this course is to introduce a critical and reflective approach to these challenges.

Contents

The course consists of a theoretical part and a practically oriented project carried out in collaboration with a company. The project and theoretical part primarily focus on developing products using AI and critically evaluating these concepts based on a cognitive user focus and circular aspects. The course offers some lectures on AI and on how products are understood and experienced by users. The course also includes several practical and experimental workshops, which are conducted in groups of 3-4 students. The course also consists of an individual reflection assignment based on lectures and course literature.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH - (U, 3, 4, 5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment:

Each project group presents its results in the form of a report, which includes a representation of a product concept and other relevant information. All three parts are included in the assessment of the group work.

In addition, each student must complete a written assignment. The final grade for the course is a combination of the group work and the individual submission.

The first part of the course, Lp3, constitutes the theoretical basis for the project work that is carried out in Lp4. The lectures in Lp3 require 80% attendance for a successful completion of the course.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
