Aim

To give a basic knowledge of building technology and building physics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

• be able to describe and explain different building components
• be able to describe elementary building physical processes
• some knowledge about fireprevention and acoustics in buildings

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

• be able to design ordinary building components and connections between these components
• be able to estimate different constructions in regards to thermal conditions
• be able to use technical terms both oral and written
• be able to discuss different solutions with actors in the building trade

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

• have developed ability to independently carry out further studies to some extent

Contents

The course mainly deals with different building components and how to put these components together in order to provide a building with good performance with regard to heat and moisture conditions. In order to be able to carry out this the course also contain a little about building materials, building physical calculations and a simple drawing item.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH - (U, 3, 4, 5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Written examination and a compulsory drawing exercise.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
