Aim

The construction client has a unique opportunity to affect the implementation of a construction project.Byggherren This course aims at giving an understanding about the role of the construction client and an insight into the opportunities for the construction client to manage a change process. Further the course will cover the rules and legislations that control he procurement of a construction project. With special focus on public procurement.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

• Understand the role of the construction client in public procurement.
• Define different forms of cooperation and procurement and understand how these are used appropriately for various types of construction projects
• Define different stratgies for a long term efficient acquisition of buildings and other constructions
• Understand how different rules and legislations affect the procurement of a construction project, with special focus on public procurement

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

• Formulating strategies in the procurement of construction projects
• Apply the rules and legislation that exists concerning the procurement of construction projects, with special focus on public procurement
• Formulate specifications concerning performance, quality and environment in yhe procurement of a construction project
• Formulate demands on the implementation of the construction project and on the relationship beween its actors

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

• Choose an appropriate client strategy for various types of construction projects
• Evaluate the appropriateness of different forms of procurement and cooperation for various types of construction projects
• Evaluate the importance of clear specifications in the procurement of a construction project
• Apply rules concerning public procurement for various types of construction projects

Contents

The course deals with long term client stratgies in the procurement och buildings and other constructions., with emphasis on the importance of choosing the appropriate form of procurement and cooperation in relation to public procurement. The rules and legislations concerning the procurement of construction projects is another important issue that the course in relation to the specifications concerning performance, implementation, quality and the environment.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH - (U, 3, 4, 5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Approved assignment. Compulsory seminars may occur.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
