Aim

The course aims to provide knowledge of methods for the manufacturing of prototypes from computer-based models. It also aims to increase the understanding of the entire process of direct manufacturing from the creation of computer-based models to their physical realization.

Contents

The instruction consists of lectures, demonstrations, and exercises. The theoretical portion covers freeform production and its potential use. The practical part aim at developing an interactive product prototype. A part of this interactivity is to program a small “Arduino” circuit that will deliver signals different kinds of sensors/servos. The student does not need any pre-conceptions about programming, it is all provided within the course.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Each student will be assigned to a project group (3-4 students). The individual grade is based on the assessment of the group project.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.

Assumed prior knowledge: MMKA25 Manual and Computer Aided drafting in Mechanical Engineering.
