Aim

The aim of the course is to provide a general overview of the subject area of entrepreneurship and to relate these knowledge to the subject area of industrial economics. The course also aims at the student to develop a business-creating and innovation-driven approach in his career as an engineer, which opens up interest and curiosity for continued entrepreneurship during his career.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

explain briefly what characterizes entrepreneurship and what role entrepreneurship plays for economic growth and business development.

get insight into the entrepreneur's complex challenges that encompass both technological, business and financial aspects.

relate and identify yourself to an entrepreneurial person.

describe basic entrepreneurial concepts and models.

develop the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in popular scientific article format.

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

apply entrepreneurial concepts in reality-close situations.

write in writing a popular scientific article and verbally discuss and argue the content of the article.

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

show insight within entreprenuerial possibilities and limitations and how their ideas effect  and contribute to society.

 

 

Contents

The course covers theoretical and practical moments linked to entrepreneurship, business establishment and development. Students apply economic concepts and models to understand and describe how these are formed in an entrepreneurial situation. Contact with entrepreneurs creates new role models and insights are given for the entrepreneurial conditions and driving forces. Students are introduced in information collection, use of databases, formulation of interview forms and conducting interviews. Introduction to the design of a popular science article and its formalization is given in the course.

 

Examination details

Grading scale: UG - (U,G) - (Fail, Pass)
Assessment: An entreprenurial portrait is conducted as a written article and is presented orally.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
