Aim
To give in-depth knowledge and skills in the choosen scientific
area
Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must
- have in-depth knowledge in the chosen scientific area(s)
- have insight in the working procedure in a research
project
- have insight in the work of a research group
Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must
- be able to independently plan, carry out and report a
project
- be able to independently search, retrieve, work on and compile
relevant information
- be able to systematically integrate and use knowledge from
earlier courses in the study programme
Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must
- carry out a research project in a research group
- be able to critically read, evaluate and draw conclusions from
scientific literature
Contents
- Supervised independent literature studies through databases and
libraries
- Supervised independent work in close connection to an ongoing
research project
- Written report in Swedish or English according to standards in
international peer reviewed journals. Oral presentation in Swedish
or English at a publicly announced seminar.
Examination details
Grading scale: UG - (U,G) - (Fail, Pass)
Assessment: Oral and written report.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
Admission
Admission requirements:
- Basic course(es) in relevant topics. At least three years of studies. Students from the five years programmes (Master of Science in Engineering Biotechnology or Master of Science in Engineering Chemical Engineering) shall have passed at least 160 credits. Students from the the international master programmes (Biotechnology or Food Technology and Nutrition) shall have passed 45 credits
