Aim

Computer science and engineering is a broad area where many techniques and tools are used. The course gives the students an opportunity to use some of them, especially those that are used later during their studies on the program for Computer Science and Engineering..

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

• know about different operating systems, especially Linux
• know about the principles behind a version control system

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

• be able to control Unix computers using a terminal interface
• be able to use LaTeX for typesetting
• be able to use the version control system Git to manage the documents for a small project

Contents

Practical use of computers; typesetting with LaTeX; introduction to version control/Git.

Examination details

Grading scale: UG - (U,G) - (Fail, Pass)
Assessment: To qualify for a passing grade, the students must have completed the compulsory laboratory exercises.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
