This course is run mainly as a project laboratory work and in the form of a project (a process engineering assignment) that will be carried out by a project group. It will train the ability to run a project and work in a group. The project work includes a literature survey, forming hypotheses for the phenomena taking place and that need to be solved, planning of required experiments, experimental work on the unit operation equipment in pilot scale, evaluating the experimental data and reporting.
Attendance is mandatory at the first class, the first group meeting, project seminars and the safety lecture.
Within the project also includes a qualified theoretical/computational simulations part for the studied unit operation. Data for its assessment will be taken from the own experiments or from literature.
The course will mainly be in the form of a project performed by a self-steering project group. Each group will have an advisor.
Peer assessment is an integrated part of the project work.
An home assignment in the form of a computational task related to the performance of a unit operation is also included.
Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Active participation in project work, opposition and graded written report. Participation in mandatory group seminars and lectures.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
Assumed prior knowledge: FMAA01 Calculus in One Variable
FMA430 Calculus in Several Variables
The number of participants is limited to: 70
Selection: Completed university credits within the programme. Priority is given to students enrolled on programmes with the course listed as mandatory, and subsequently to students from programmes that include the course in their curriculum.
The course overlaps following course/s: BLT010, BLT015
