Aim

The course aims to introduce the interaction and workflow between different digital tools used for intermediate 3D modelling and sketching, to support the design and presentation of architectural projects.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

To be formally approved, the student must demonstrate that he/she:

 

• Is able to understand and explain the similarities and dissimilarities between differing digital tools for 3D sketching and modelling.

 

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

To be formally approved - the student must demonstrate that he/she:

• Understands and has a capability to work with the basic methods of intermediate digital 3D sketching and modelling in programs like Rhinoceros and Autodeks Revit.
• Is able to produce a simple parametric design.
• Is able to export this design to a CAD program like Autodesk Revit for further detail design.

 

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

To be formally approved - the student must demonstrate that he/she:

• Is able to demonstrate a critical approach to various methods and techniques in 3D sketching and modelling.

 

Contents

This course introduces more advanced digital tools for sketching and modelling through lectures and guided exercises. Tutorials are selected to be relevant to a more advanced level of design and visualization of architecture.

Examination details

Grading scale: UG - (U,G) - (Fail, Pass)
Assessment: To be formally approved, the student must attain a passing grade in all exercises.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.

Reading list

• No compulsory literature is attached to the course. In the course the student trains the skill in digital tools.
