Aim

The course aims to introduce digital tools for basic 3D hard surface modelling, in order to be able to support the design and presentation of architectural projects.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

To be formally approved - the student must demonstrate that he/she:

 

• Is able to describe basic features of digital tools for 3D sketching and modelling.

 

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

To be formally approved, the student must demonstrate that he/she:

 

• Understands and has a capability to work with the basic methods of digital 3-D sketching, and 3-d modelling in programs such as Rhinoceros.
• Is able to use 3D-modelling in order to design a simple architectural project.

 

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

To be formally approved, the student must demonstrate that he/she:
• Is able to demonstrate a critical approach to various methods and techniques in 3D sketching and modelling.

Contents

The course introduces basic digital tools for basic 3D hard surface modelling, through lectures and guided exercises. Tutorials are selected to be relevant to architectural design and presentations.

Examination details

Grading scale: UG - (U,G) - (Fail, Pass)
Assessment: To be formally approved, the student must attain a passing grade in all exercises.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.

Reading list

• No compulsory literature is attached to the course. In the course the student trains the skill in digital tools.
