The course addresses areas of fundamental Swedish private law such as contracts, sales, property  and torts.

The latter part of the course focuses only on Swedish private real estate law, in other words, the Swedish Land Code's regulations concerning fixtures, the conveyance of rights of use (rent, servitudes and leases), purchases, defects in real estate as well as mortgage deeds. An important part of the course is general training with respect to legal skills. The students are to be able to search in and use the primary legal sources: legislation, case law and legislative preparatory works. The ability to present and understand legal reasoning is developed based on this. The students apply their ability in writing the individual memo, concerning the legislative process and finding the legal sources from which a new law originates. The memo is also presented oraly to other students. In the process students acquire basic knowledge of academic writing, such as references and formalities.

The course is based on lectures and mandatory seminars. The student's activity - through presentations, discussion, writing and problem-solvning - is important for the understanding and ability to solve questions relating to private and real estate law. The student participate actively at compulsory seminar about stydy strategies and group dynamics.
