NETWORK MODELLINGETS120
Nätverksmodellering

Credits: 6. Grading scale: TH. Optional for: D3, E3. Course coordinator: Christian Nyberg, Inst f telekommunikationssystem. Recommended prerequisites: ETS075 Queuing System or ETS065 Queuing Theory. Assessment: Written exam. Parts: 3. Homepage: http://www.telecom.lth.se.

Aim
The purpose of the course is give fundamental knowledge on modelling and dimensioning of telecommunications systems and computer networks with queuing theory and computer simulation.

Contents
The course presupposes knowledge of simple Markovian queuing theory and event simulation.

The process approach to discrete event simulation is treated. Accuracy, verification, validation and random number generation are also covered. The students do a larger simulation project. The analytical part of the course contains the following: M/G/1-theory and its applications, priorities in queuing systems with applications on diffserv, queuing networks with computer network applications and numerical algorithms.
