Language of instruction: The course will be given in English
The course is interdisciplinary with the aim to provide students with knowledge and practice in features and functions of packaging materials and the evaluation of them, in a supply chain context.
Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must
Understand and explain different features of packaging
materials.
Evaluate features during different mechanical testing and apply it
to a defined supply chain.
Perform standardized methods of packaging material and evaluate the
consequences in a supply chain.
Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must
Understand and evaluate features and performance of packaging
material for different products.
Plan, execute and report evaluations of packaging material and its
consequenses in a supply chain.
Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must
Critically review and use information in the packaging material science literature, and analyse the consequenses for different actors in the supply chains. Critically and constructively evaluate and give feedback on peer students work.
Lectures on packaging material given by experts from academia and industry. Standard methods for material characterization. Written reflections on packaging material and their features. Parallell supply chain project to evalutae packaging material features throughout a supply chain.
Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Projects with grades Pass or Fail, to pass the course the entire project portfolio should have Pass.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
