Aim

The development of modern technology must be connected to sustainable development, e.g. through environmental adaptation of product development. Therefore, this course aims at presenting an active and critical approach to the introduction and use of new technology from a holistic perspective (life cycle oriented).

Contents

Lectures and seminars address some important environmental and resource issues, such as energy and climate, chemicals, air pollution, waste issues and environmental management in companies, such as life cycle analysis. Lectures and seminars also introduce the subject areas for the papers. A group paper, with tutoring in several steps. Possible subjects are presented at the beginning of the course, but the groups should formulate their own research questions. Seminars at the end of the course are aimed at presentation and critical discussion of the papers; each group should prepare for the discussion.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: A written exam and a paper written according to given rules; attendance and active participation at a seminar, including critical discussion of another paper; active participation in the tutoring process.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
