The aim of the course is to provide knowledge for advanced studies, work and research especially within chemical-biological-biochemical areas.

Contents

General toxicological knowledge. Uptake, distribution and excretion of xenobiotic compounds (toxicokinetics). Mechanism of action of xenobiotics on molecular, cellular, tissue, organ and organism level (toxicodynamics). Turnover of xenobiotics (biotransformation/bioactivation). Immuntoxicology. Neurotoxicology. Genotoxicology. Reproductive toxicology. Risk assessment. Methods to study toxicology.

Examination details

Grading scale: UV - (U,G,VG) - (Fail, Pass, Pass with Distinction)
Assessment: Teaching consists of lectures, practicals and seminars. Practicals are accounted for in writing. Lectures, practicals and seminars are compulsory. Examination takes the form of a written test at the end of the course. Students who fail the ordinary test will have an opportunity to take another test in close proximity to the ordinary test. To be awarded a Pass on the whole course the student shall have passed the written examination, passed practical reports and to have participated in all compulsory course elements. The final grade is determined by the result on the written exam.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
