Consumer electronic products play an important role in today’s society. This course will give an overview of modern consumer electronic products and how they work. The aim of the course is to give the students basic understanding of electronic products and sufficient knowledge of electronic vocabulary in order to understand literature such as brochures and technical manuals.

The focus of the course is to give a basic understanding of information carrying systems. Tree specific areas are studied: acoustic-, image- and storage. A number of systems are studied including; sound reproduction, radio and broadcasting, mobile phones, GPS, CD and DVD-players, computers, medical electronics etc.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Participation in 9 out of 12 lectures, and a written reflection on the contents of each of these. For higher marks, higher participation and/or a project work is required. The project topic is to be determined together with the course head. Lecture series are given only once per year.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
