Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must
- be acquainted with terms, rules and requirements for moisture
safety in the construction process,
- know what the decisive sources of moisture and what the
measures against them are for a number of building components in
different types of buildings,
- be aware of available tools, templates and software,
- understand the behaviour of materials and structures with
regard to moisture conditions and changes
Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must
- be able to perform simple, and define the requirements for
sophisticated, calculations of moisture conditions,
- be able to identify and analyse major risks for low safety
against moisture in various parts of the construction process,
- be able to examine drawings with respect to moisture
safety,
- be able to perform a moisture inspection at a construction
site.
Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must
- have a questioning approach to traditional and new solutions
for building components and selections of materials,
- have a structured approach to managing moisture safety in the
construction process,
Contents
- lectures by university teachers and engineers from
industry
- exercises for understanding moisture changes and performing
calculations of moisture conditions
- group work on examining drawings with respect to moisture
safety
- exercise to make a description of the moisture safety for a
building
