General toxicological knowledge. Uptake, distribution and excretion of xenobiotic compounds (toxicokinetics). Mechanism of action of xenobiotics on molecular, cellular, tissue, organ and organism level (toxicodynamics). Turnover of xenobiotics (biotransformation/bioactivation). Immuntoxicology. Neurotoxicology. Genotoxicology. Reproductive toxicology. Legislation. Methods to study toxicology with emphasis on in vitro toxicology.

Assessment: Teaching consists of lectures, practicals and seminars. Practicals are accounted for in writing, which are graded. A literature study is accounted for in writing and by oral presentation. Practicals and seminars, and the course elements associated with these are compulsory. Examination takes the form of written tests at the end of the course. Students who fail the ordinary tests will have an opportunity to take another test in close proximity to the ordinary test. To be awarded a Pass on the whole course the students shall have passed the tests, have acceptable practical reports and to have participated in all compulsory course elements. The final grade for the course is determined by the aggregated results of the different parts of the examination.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
