The Swedish Environmental Ojectives state that the total energy use per heated area in residential and commercial buildings will decrease, with target reductions of 20% by 2020 and 50% by 2050, compared to the energy use in 1995. Also the EC require, in the “Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, that all new buildings must be zero energy buildings by 2050.
The aim of the course is to give the student enhanced knowledge in order to support a sustainable development in order to reduce the climate changes and the resource use from the building stock.
The main objective is on existing buildings and the need of refurbishment including the management.

Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Written examination. To pass the course the students also must fulfil and pass a project.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
