For a passing grade the student must
Theory of ball and roller bearings. Roller bearing calculations and dimensioning. Theory of hydrodynamic fluid films for sliding and rolling motion. Hydrodynamic bearings. Hydrostatic bearings. Lubricants.
Grading scale: TH
Assessment: Compulsory design assignment. Participation in the examination requires that the design assignment has been approved. This can be approved only during the exercises which are scheduled for the specific assignment. Written examination. The grades 3, 4, and 5 demand 40, 60, and 80% correctness respectively in the examination.
Required prior knowledge: FMEA01 Engineering Mechanics - Statics and Particle Dynamics together with FMEA25 Mechanics-Dynamics or FMEA30 Mechanics, and FHL013 Solid Mechanics.
