Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish
Aim
To mediate knowledge of the Swedish Plan and Building Law (PBL)
and how it relates to planning and building. Emphasis is given to
the part of the law that affects planning and its application.
Extra emphasis is put on detailed planning, how it is executed and
its connection to giving building permit.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must
- understand how a formal plan of detail ensures desired
qualities in an environment.
- relate different levels of scale to one another, and perceive
how different means of planning affect one another.
- interpret formal plans and their effects on formal permission
to erect buildings and similar preconditions.
Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must
- draw up a formal detailed plan in the form of maps, regulations
and descriptions.
- by reference to existing formal plans for a given site assess
preconditions for building on it.
Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must
- take account of the interplay between people and their physical
surroundings.
- to include in his or her assessments a complete appreciation of
the relevant aspects of Swedish social and legislative (i.e. PBL)
requirements.

- Sketches of a more detailed general plan
- Definition on paper of a subordinate area
- Creating a plandokument as part of a formal detailed plan
- Relationships between building and planning
Examination details
Grading scale: TH
Assessment: Accepted exercises, participation in a study trip, at least eighty per cent attendance at lectures and group discussions of exercises.
Admission
Required prior knowledge: ASBF10 Sustainable Urban Design, or equivalent.
