Aim

The course will give an overview of the most important components which are used to build industrial measurement and control systems and the interaction between them. The course will also give the student the experience of planning, building, and testing a small system including sensors, actuators, and presentation units for a given problem of measurement and control.

Contents

Logic algebra, gates, Karnaugh diagrams, flip-flops, sequential nets and PLC. Characteristics and performance of components and circuits. Sensors, methods for the measurement of non-electrical variables. Interfacing between the sensor and the measurement system. A/D and D/A converters. The micro processor as a component in systems for measurement and control. Measurement and control with micro processors or personal computers including data acquisition cards. Commercial programmes for measurement and control.
