Resurseffektiv processdesign
Resource Efficient Process Design

KETN15, 7,5 credits, A (Second Cycle)

Valid for: 2015/16
Decided by: Education Board C
Date of Decision: 2015-04-20

General Information

Elective for: B4-pt, K4-p, W4-p
Language of instruction: The course will be given in English on demand

Aim

A thorough understanding of how different process steps such as reactors and separation systems interact with each other are required in chemical and biotechnological processes. This is particularly important for processes that have not only one product from a homogeneous material, such is the case in for example biorefineries. The purpose of this course is to deepen the students' skills and understanding of how different processing steps are designed and how they can be linked to optimize energy and material utilization in the production process. Particular emphasis will be placed on an improved understanding of flowsheeting, which is an important tool to optimize energy and material utilization, and the design of separation sequences, reactor network and heat exchanger networks. The aim is for the student to become a competent professional with the ability to have a process understanding and ability to understand different process interrelationships.
