Molecular genetics of the cell. The cell nucleus and the organisation of the chromatin. Gene structure, exons and introns. Evolution of the genome. Flow of information in the cell. DNA replication, repair and genetic recombination. RNA and its roles, translation to proteins. Protein sorting and secretion. Cell division, mitosis, control of the cell cycle, meiosis. Functional genomics. Molecular physiology. Cultivation of higher eucaryotic cells.
