Aim

The aim of the course is to give the engineering student who is interested in mathematics the opportunity to independently extend his or her knowledge of mathematics and to give practice  in written and oral communication.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

• be able to account for the mathematics within the chosen project in detail.

 

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

• be able to reasonably independently, through literature study,  acquire new mathematical knowledge at a level corresponding to advanced courses at LTH.
• be able to account for the results of a mathematical study through a written report.

 

Contents

• A continuation in the form of a small project of for example one of the courses Applied Mathematics, Matrix Theory or Nonlinear Dynamical Systems.

 

Examination details

Grading scale: UG
Assessment: Approved project report and oral presentation, singly or in pair. Acting as opponent on another report .

Admission

Admission requirements:

• Participation in one of the courses FMA021, FMA120, FMA140, FMA200, FMAN15 or FMAN25.

Required prior knowledge: Depending on the choice of subject.

Reading list

• Depending on the subject of the project. Will be provided by the department, possibly as a loan.
