Aim

The aim of this course is to give a deepened understanding of electron transport, particularily in nanostructures. Detailed knowledge in this field is necessary not only for research in nanphysics but also for the development of electronic devices.

Electrical resistance: an atomistic view; Self-consistent field; Bandstructure and Subbands; Capacitance; Level broadening; Coherent transport; Non-coherent transport; Electron transport aspects of present and future devices.

Assessment: Written exam.

Required prior knowledge: FFF021 Semiconductor Physics, FFF042 The Physics of Low-dimensional Structures and Quantum Devices.
