Aim
The purpose of the course is to introduce the students to
structured development work in computer engineering, and give the
students an introduction to basic concepts in sustainable
development.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must
- have a basic understanding of the subject Computer Science and
Engineering
- be able to relate concepts of study strategies and career
planning to their own study situation
Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must
- be able to account for basic concepts in Computer Science and
Engineering
- be able to write basic computer programs
Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must
- be able to cooperate in a group
- be able to account for a future profession
Contents
- Server-client model for prioviding network service
- Introduction to protocols used by web servers and clients
(http, tcp, ip)
- Coding in HTML and CSS and something on dynamical webb
pages
- Planning of development of websites
- A laboratory lesson where students create a small website and
put it on a web server
- A project where the students develop a website on sustainable
development. The site must fulfill:
- Technical demands
- Demands on usability and clarity
- The texts must be correct and well written
- Lectures on sustainable development as a preparation for the
project
- Seminars on study strategies and carreer planning to prepare
students for their studies and their future profession
- Presentation skills
- Security in laboratories
Examination details
Grading scale: UG
Assessment: To pass the course the student must be approved on lab assignments, a project in sustainable development, and take active part in compulsory activities.
