The results of artificial intelligence research is applied in many domains, like e.g., semantic web, robotics, language processing, search engines, computer vision, decision support, diagnosis, stock trade, scheduling, computer games, control, simulation or spam filtering. The course introduces the students to research-related problem areas and gives practical skills in implementing intelligent systems. The course is project-based, where the contents of the project is chosen by the course responsible, taking into account the interests of the participants: The topic is taken from the main application areas of artificial intelligence: knowledge representation, machine learning, natural language processing and robotics.

A project work, which varies between different years. The tasks are announced on the course web page.

Assessment: For a final grade the student must complete the project work. The project is carried out in groups of two students. The final grade is based on the group's result and on the individual performance of the student.
