The course aims to provide the students with knowledge of the Swedish judicial system within the areas of safety, health and environment. Students will not only be able to develop skills in identifying and applying current law rulings but also obtain a broad comprehension of the judicial structure of law that will serve as an important instrument for Risk Managers and Fire Engineers to solve practical legal problems in business, public service and the local governments.

Show awareness of the Justice possibilities and limitations in risk management, including social, economic, environmental and social aspects.
The aim of this course is to equip students with the basic knowledge of Civil Law and Administrative Law. Exercises are designed in such a way that students can put into practice existing judicial rulings taking into consideration technical and economical correlation. Special emphasis is placed on reading and understanding legal texts.

Assessment: Written or oral examination and an oral presentation of an earlier submitted and approved paper.
The number of participants is limited to: 45
Selection: Priority is given to students within the Risk Management and Safety Engineering programme and the Fire Protection Engineering programme. Selection: Number of credits remaining to obtain a degree. With regards to students having similar credit points, lottery system is applied.
