Aim

The study course is intended to give knowledge in the energy markets structure, regulations and functions for electricity, heating and fuels, related to the energy balance and development of energy demand.

Contents

The study course will give knowledge about energy systems to energy demand development. Analysis of resource management, environmental, financial, etc, aspects. Capacity adjustment and system security. Delivery and its quality. Development of electricity and natural gas markets. Electricity and Natural Gas Act. Regulation and supervision of natural monopolies in electricity and gas networks. Energy prices - tariffs, fees and taxes. District heating and cooling - fundamentals and the Swedish market. District heating and cooling in international markets. Markets for car fuels and other fuels. Energy services. Conditions of future development in energy markets.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH
Assessment: Both individual examination and examination based upon group performance. Compulsory assignments are presented and discussed in group seminars. Participation in compulsory excercises and 80 % of the lectures is obligatory as well as four tests based upon the study course literature. Approved exercises are sufficient for final grade 3 "pass". For higher grades a written examination is required.

Admission

Required prior knowledge: FAFA15 Energy and Environmental Physics or quivalent course; MMVF01 Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics or equivalent course.
