Aim

The objective of the course is to acquire knowledge in heat transfer with technical applications, in thermal separation methods and in thermodynamics with application to important cooling and heating processes.

Heat exchangers. Calculation of heat transfer coefficients. Radiation. Boiling. Condensation. Unsteady state heat transfer. Fundamentals of thermodynamics. The heat engine cycle. Combustion. Gas turbine cycles. Refrigeration and heat pumps. Compressors. Energy conservation in separation processes.

Assessment: Written examination as well as three project exercises presented in technical PM and participation in laboratory studies.
