The course gives a deep understanding and solid knowledge about the design of advanced systems for wireless communication, regarding both public systems (GSM, W-CDMA, LTE) and wireless local networks (WLAN, Bluetooth, Ad-Hoc, and mesh networks). The students also get hands-on experience of implementing services in a mobile terminal.

The course gives a deep understanding of principles and technologies that are the foundation of mobile communication systems. The course covers both public systems (GSM, W-CDMA, LTE) and technologies for wireless local networks (WLAN, Ad-Hoc, and mesh networks). The course also gives an understanding of how these systems integrate more and more, advantages and disadvantages as well as problems and their solutions in connection with this integration.

Assessment: The course assessment is divided in two sections, a written exam and a project assignment. The grade of the course is based on the written exam, and can be improved by strong performance in the project.
