Credits: 7,5. Grading scale: UG. Cycle: G2 (First Cycle). Main field: Technology. Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Optional for: IBYA3. Course coordinator: Professor Lars Sentler, lars.sentler@bkl.lth.se, Building Science. Prerequisites: Basic courses in Structural engineering, Building physics, Building material, Building production technique and Building installations. Assessment: Approved projects. Further information: In the course there are projects based on real structures, both new buildings and old buildings. Home page: http://www.bkl.lth.se/utbildning/kurser/energihushaallning_vsmf01/.

Aim
The course is intended to give knowledge about energy analysis of buildings and give proposals for improvements to meet the new requirements of an EU energy conservation directive including application documents from the National Board of Urban Planning. An important aspect is the complete view where stability, energy conservation, humidity and choice of external surface material are analysed together.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

have the knowledge to make it possible to suggest suitable measures for energy conservation both for newly constructed buildings and for improved existing buildings.

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

be able to analyse new and old buildings based on the demands given in the EU directive. Transparent solutions for improvements and reasonable economical calculations should be given.
