Credits: 7,5. Grading scale: TH. Cycle: A (Second Cycle). Main field: Technology. Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Optional for: L5fe, L5fr. Course coordinator: Ingemar Bengtsson, ingemar.bengtsson@lantm.lth.se and Åsa Hansson, asa.hansson@nek.lu.se, Real Estate Science. Prerequisites: VFTF01 Economics and VFTF05 Real Estate Appraisal. Aim
The purpose is that the student should understand the interplay between market forces and law for land use and real estate values.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

be able to explain central themes within the field of Law & Economics

be able to explain the interplay between market forces and the law

be able to understand and explain how the formation of property rights are fundamental to a suistanble society

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

be able to solve conditional problems by means of methods of Law & Economics

be able to analyse real estate law from an economic perspective

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

be able to discuss proposals of changes within the real estate law

be able to propose suitable changes to specific areas of real estate law

Contents
Law & Economic thory and methd is taught. A substantial part of the course is assigned to applied studies of certain areas of Swedish real estate law, such as (but not restricted to):

the Swdish right of commons (allemansrätt )

the municipal monoploy of building permits

takings
