INTRODUCTION TO FIRE AND RISK ENGINEERINGVBRA05
Credits: 9. Grading scale: UG. Cycle: G1 (First Cycle). Main field: Technology. Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. VBRA05 overlaps following cours/es: VBR150, VBR162 and VBRA01. Compulsory for: BI1. Course coordinator: Senior lecturer Robert Jönsson, robert.jonsson@brand.lth.se, Fire Safety Engineering. The number of participants is limited to 60 Assessment: The examination takes the form of two assignments (advanced assignments) that have to be presented both in writing and orally and a laboratory report. All the assignments must be approved for the student to successfully complete the course. In addition, compulsory attendance at all seminars, laboratory sessions, and a practicum day at the MSB school in Revinge is required. Further information: Group assignments require active participation. Each group member must individually be able to account for the content of the assignment. If a group member does not fulfill the demands of the group or ignores hers/his commitment, she/he can be reassigned to another group or get a fail result. Home page: http://www.brand.lth.se/.

Aim
The aim is for the students to obtain a broad and general knowledge in the field of fire safety engineering and risk management. The course is also aimed at providing participants with knowledge on the nature of the communication and influencing process, as well as training them to apply these knowledge skills in various situations. This aims at giving the students insights and experience in oral presentations, with emphasis placed on inter-personal communication, the art of persuasion, and public speaking / teaching techniques.
