Contents
In the project assignment, the student will put into practice his/her knowledge of planning at, above all, the scale-level of general planning and extended general plans. However, certain components will be treated at a more detailed scale.

In parallel with the urban building assignment, a course component will be offered whose objective is to provide knowledge of how risks of various kinds can be managed in community-based planning, using risk analyses as starting points. This course component is aimed at providing insight into the application of the existing legislation framework as a management tool to enable risks to be considered in the community-based planning process.

The students will obtain an understanding of the various central, regional, and community administrations' view of the concept, "Risk considerations in the community-based planning process". An important aspect involves the linkage, "Environmental Impact Assessment – Risk Considerations". The extended general plan must be designed in view of the demands for a sustainable society. Also included in the course are lectures and literature study aimed at addressing the problem, "Community's vulnerability and preparedness measures in community-based planning".

The project work is reported in the form of a public seminar. The teaching aspect is carried out in project form with supporting lectures, consultations, and study visits. The work is constructed around a training site located in a nearby municipality. The written report shall follow the Department of Fire Safety Engineering and Safety systems regulations for assignments at Level II, http://www.brand.lth.se/fileadmin/brandteknik/utbild/inuppgkrav.pdf.
