THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS WITH BUSINESS ECONOMYVBEA15
Credits: 8. Grading scale: TH. Cycle: G1 (First Cycle). Main field: Technology. Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Compulsory for: IBYA2. Course coordinator: Lecturer Bodil Fritzon, Bodil.Fritzon@construction.lth.se, Construction Management. Assessment: Assessments are divided into three parts. The first part consists of a graded written examination. The second part deals with group work followed by a seminar. The last part is a graded group report precedes from sections of submissions and oppositions in group and individual. The final grade is an average between individual examination and final group report. Active participation in the seminar enables the final grade to increase by half grade. Parts: 3. Aim
The subject aims to cultivate the knowledge and understanding concerning the players involved, rules and the process that must be taken into consideration when planning, producing and managing a construction project. The course also aims at imparting basic knowledge of business economy, estimation methods and analysis. The report writing exercises allows the students to be involved in different stages of the construction process while simultaneously demonstrating the ability to apply the knowledge acquired.

Contents
In general the subject focuses on the construction process as a whole. Specifically the construction process concentrates on the aspects of planning process, project management, production stage, administration and working environment. Meanwhile the business economy aspects handle on costing, income analysis, investment assessment and production estimation. In addition the basic knowledge also focuses on the managing of group process.

The course is based on a series of seminars focusing on the different stages of the construction process. This part of the course will be examined in the form of submissions and discussions. In parallel, the seminars will be complemented with lectures and exercises in the construction process and the basic knowledge on business economy. The business economy with construction technique application will be tested via written examination. The course ends with report writing where knowledge on business economy, construction process and construction economy is applied to an actual construction project.
