PROGRAMWORK, COMMUNITY PLANNING AND BUILDING-DESIGN - PROJECT STUDYVBE680
Credits: 7,5. Grading scale: TH. Cycle: G2 (First Cycle). Main field: Technology. Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Compulsory for: IBYA3. Course coordinator: Anders Robertson, Construction Management. Recommended prerequisits: ABV620 Construction technique and architecture, VBE601 Construction economy, VBE605 Project course, AFO680 Visual communication, FMI645 Environmental science, ABV610 Architecture and construction history. Assessment: Pass with submission of all assignments, grades for part examination/seminar and project work. Final grades will be acquired only when all assignments, part examinations/seminars and project work meets the passing grades. Further information: Compulsory for: IBYA3. The course is conducted parallel with course that deal with project work and construction process, VBE675 Management – Project work in the construction process. Contents
With the perspective of community and clients responsibility in view, the course deals with rules and regulations pertaining to buildings and group buildings. The general goal concentrates on the environment and its effect on decision making and also examples of society’s means of controls for the development of a durable society. Applications of planning and building law together with legislations and advice on rebuilding and heritage buildings and the connection to actual project work. With the perspective of both construction and management in previous programme work questions are also raised on issues such as maintenance and recycle. Formation and adjustment towards group building climate are included in the course together with theories and tools aiding in decisions making for the infrastructure climate such as roads, traffic, land use, landscape and gardens.

The pedagogical idea and the overall goal for the course is to expose students on the insight and understanding of construction industry working conditions by working on project work that is linked to an actual live project in the region. Work is performed with the help of different type of authorities and industries contact. Students are guided through the whole construction process and work on their own with different working elements that occurs throughout the construction phase from inception till completion. This exposes the students on the actual working environment. Guest lectures and external cooperation is part of the project work.

Lectures, exercises and course material support the ongoing case work and relate to the detail parts in general. Great emphasis lies in the integration of education of an overall view of the detailed parts. The course deals with standard and determined associated to the detailed parts.
