Aim
The purpose of the course is to provide a general understanding of the necessity and possibility to plan and build factories and industrial plants with a high degree of flexibility and rational material flows, and to give the students some skills in the construction of industrial plants and to develop their understanding of technical, economic, environmental, safety and health, risk and legislative issues that can occur when constructing new and reconstructing old industrial plants.

Contents
Industrial planning, strategic planning of premises, localization of industrial plants, design of working areas and industrial plants, systematic layout planning, layout principles, building techniques and materials, planning of the realization of industrial projects, participants in the construction process, authorities and legislation. A compulsory case study is performed as teamwork. The purpose of the case study is to handle different issues that can occur when planning and realizing industrial plant projects. A compulsory study visit may be included.

Assessment: A written examination consisting of about 15 questions is given, worth 60 points in all, and to pass the examination you must have 30 points. The examination is based on the compendium "Industriell anläggningsteknik" as well as some handouts and the lectures. You may use the compendium and the handouts when writing the exam. The evaluation of course performance is based equally on the written examination and the case study. Max points (for the examination and the case study together) are 120, and 60 points are needed to pass. The written examination as well as the case study must be passed individually to earn the final grade. Contents: Covers literature och lectures.

Contents: The assignment should be carried out by students in groups. The assignment is meant to solve different types of problems when constructing and designing buildings. Written report.
