TOOLS FOR A DESIGNERIDEA01
Credits: 14. Grading scale: TH. Cycle: G1 (First Cycle). Main field: Industrial Design. Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. IDEA01 overlaps following cours/es: IDE020 and IDE160. Compulsory for: KID1. Course coordinator: Visiting senior lecturer Karl-Axel Andersson, Karl-Axel.Andersson@design.lth.se, Industrial Design. Assessment: To pass the course, the student has to receive a passing mark on all assignments.

Aim
The aim is to give the student an opportunity to train essential techniques in the design process as well as to be able to present a design concept. In addition, the course offers a hands-on understanding of the form/technique/material relationship.

Contents
The course starts with an introduction to the possibilities and restrictions of a workshop, the aim of which is for the student to be able to work more independently in the workshop’s machine park. Sketches and drafting techniques are introduced and practised. The training in shop techniques is expanded to include those particular for building models. Graphic design is introduced and practised with a focus on product graphics.
