Credits: 7,5. Grading scale: UG. Cycle: A (Second Cycle). Main field: Architecture. Language of instruction: The course will be given in English on demand. AFON20 overlaps following cours/es: AFO275. Optional for: A4. Course coordinator: Professor Christer Malmström,,, and architect John Cramer,, Architecture. Prerequisites: At least three years approved full time education at university level (or a Bachelor degree) in architecture, or equivalent. The course might be cancelled if the number of applicants is less than 10. Assessment: Approved assignments and at least 80% attendance in lectures and classwork, at seminars, studytrips and during participants’ presentation of their results.

The aim of the course is to, from a holistic perspective, highlight the conditions for furniture design and production, and enable students to practice their own ability to design furniture.

The course is a specialization within the field of interior and furniture design. The course includes a basic introduction to key concepts and traditions in the design of rooms, textiles, interiors and furniture, which is reflected in the course's practical applications . The course introduces the concepts of rooms, furnishings and furniture as well as its history, mainly based on design-oriented aspects and practical exercises.
