Prerequisites: MIO012/MIOA01 Managerial Economics, Basic Course, MIO022 Strategic Management and at least two of the following courses: MIO035 Applied Business Analysis, MIO 090 Technology Strategy and MIO150 Business Marketing.
Assessment: The examination is divided in three parts: Applied business consultant project, literature seminars including presentations in teams and an individual literature review. The final grade is balanced between the applied consultant industrial project including literature seminars (80%) and the individual literature review (20%). Guest lectures and literature seminars, the company consultant presentation and the concluding reflection/evaluation are obligatory.

The course goal is to create a profound and synthesized knowledge and competence about industrial management, leadership and entrepreneurship. The course build upon earlier courses within the educational program and then, in particular, the final direction Business and Innovation with the purpose of an enhanced integration of these courses. The working formats in the course, individual work as well as in teams, support the course goal. The above mentioned elements are permuted by the fact that the participant is given an opportunity to design, both an individual as collective knowledge and competence of how the students critically and reflectively also shall assess an achieved result in an industrial milieu.

The course builds upon and enhances earlier courses in business administration as well as in technology. A special emphasis is laid on both theoretically and practically to integrate perspectives, models, concepts towards constructively problemizing and interpreting industrial as well as public organizational situations.

The working format of the course implies both individual and teamwork concerning the above. Other pedagogical formats that are used are the case method, literature studies, guest lectures and field studies in both national and global environments. The above mentioned formats, permutes that the individual participant is given an opportunity to form an individual and collective knowledge and competence, of how they critically and reflectively shall also evaluate an achieved final result.
- be able to identify and define the challenges of a business situation
- be able to decide a relevant research method of an investigation, together with a theoretical framework, in order to find the best starting point for theoretical and empirical investigations.
- be able to independently conduct a clinical investigation with a critical posture.
- be able to interpret and synthesise a collected data material for the benefit of a good decision base and implementation.
The course is built upon and deepens achieved knowledge from both courses in business administration and technology with the focus on industrial leadership and entrepreneurship/innovation. Two dimensions that permutes the course as a whole, is the balance between a) the business and organisation, and b) the current business and future businesses. A capacity to handle these two fields of suspension we consider to be necessary in order to survive and grow in a more and more complex and turbulent business milieus nationally and internationally. The course also has an expressed management and renewable (i.e. innovation) perspective.
