Credits: 7,5. Grading scale: TH. Cycle: A (Second Cycle). Main field: Technology. Language of instruction: The course will be given in English. Optional for: I4ai, I4. Course coordinator: CIRCLE. Prerequisites: MIO012/MIOA01 Managerial Economics and MIO022 Strategic management. Assessment: The grade is based on: Case presentations and case discussins (20 %), project work (30 %), and a written exam (50 %). For case presentations- and discussions and project work the students can recieve the grades pass or not pass, if he or she gets the grade not pass a supplementary assignment. The wirtten exam is the base for the individual grade. Parts: 3.

The aim of this course is to introduce the students to entrepreneurial start-up processes and business driven processes in new and established firms. Such processes include idea recognition, development of business models for new or established markets, attracting resources and carrying out a business processes. The course will also focus on similarities and differences between business development in new and established organizations.

New business processes are taking place within as well as outside established firms. Entrepreneurship is important for new business processes, no matter where they take place. The course will discuss entrepreneurship as a phenomenon in society, from the perspective of the established business, as well as from the perspective of the new venture. Issues being discussed are: Who is the entrepreneur; Differences and similarities between entrepreneurship in new and established ventures; How entrepreneurial processes, in new and established ventures can support each other; How established ventures can make use of entrepreneurship as a resource in their business processes.

An important part of the course is evaluation of business ideas, resource analysis and options for resource creation.
