MICROWAVE THEORYETEN01
Credits: 7,5. Grading scale: TH. Cycle: A (Second Cycle). Main field: Technology. Language of instruction: The course might be given in English. ETEN01 overlaps following cours/es: ETE091. Optional for: E4, E4f, E4hn, F4, F4f, F4hn, MFOT1. Course coordinator: Professor Anders Karlsson, anders.karlsson@eit.lth.se, Electrical and Information Technology. Recommended prerequisits: ETE110 Modellering och simulering inom fältteori or Electromagnetic field theory (ETE055, ESS050, ETE055, ETEF01). Aim
The course gives an understanding of the physics of transmission lines, waveguides, and optical fibres. It gives an introduction to the analytical and numerical methods that are used in this area. The students get skills in measurements with network analyser. They also get experience in treating extensive applied problems and projects.

Contents
Transmission lines, Smith chart, network analyser, S-matrix, rectangular and circular wave guides, TE- and TM-modes, resonance cavities, optical fibres, optical components in optronics, periodic structures and the finite element method.
